Not so much in New York as in Paris.
This, I was reminded after annihilating a chocolate chip cookie from Birdbath last week. The stacks of deliciousness beckoned to me from the sidewalk, and I, dutifully, went inside for one.
There is something about the gritty-sweet combination of the butter and sugar. The simultaneous texture of crisp and chewy. The studs of dark chocolate. Birdbath’s cookies make my heart sing.
For a year and a half, I’ve been trying to find a replacement fix in Paris. So far, no luck. Eric Kayser is as close as I’ve come.
I know, I know—it looks quite delicious, right?
All those melty pieces of chocolate and the golden, crackling surface?
Looks are deceiving. Or maybe it’s just that I know better. While Paris is gunning to take the torch from New York for cupcake mania, no one has is onto chocolate chip cookies. Yet.

I agree with Dianne...these shots are very "eatable." Those choc chunks are looking super good right now.
For most good things, chocolate-y and butter-y, I now have to depend on Myself.
My bakery can still make Toll House Cookies.
I have yet to find a cookie here that is acceptable to my cookie taste buds.
It is just a good thing that I can get all the Chocolate/Dulce de Leche Ice Cream I want at any given time of the day or night. :)
OMG!
Trop americain toi...
But then I don't love choc chip cookies so I should not point a finger...try Petrossian's next time in NYC
And the chocolate cherry on Prince street at..I forget.
Admittedly a diversion but major YUM!
Ooh la la! Looks just like the City Bakery c.c. cookie. My personal favorite.
I know what you mean about the Eric Kayser cookies. I took a shot a recreating them using one of his recipes here - Salty Sweet Cookies Noir at Eric Kayser.
The window display at Blackbird looks lovely - thanks for the tip, will check it out next time I'm in NYC!
